SOS or Sun of Selgium is a barbecue brand working at local outdoor music venues and supplying good quality smoked meats. The client wanted something with a grungy and distressed look to it. That way it would be able to fit in with the bands merchandise that would be getting sold alongside this brands goods.
Main Logo
I was influenced by butcher stickers that typically hold together their packaged meat. So I chose an  arched ovular shape so that my client would be able to use them as sealing stickers. The illustration of the hand and coal help reiterate the handmade craftsmanship that go in to the clients products.
Secondary Logos
To help give my client more range out of his logo I made other options for differing products.
The Menu
The menu design allowed for more creativity to be added to the logo itself. It opened up the door for the middle "O" to be interchangeable depending on the need of the client.
The menu is straight forward with no nonsense and enough space allowance for one or more items in each category. Due to the clients daily specials and ever changing items.
The Process
Grungy was the clients initial choice. Eventually we tied in the Holder of the coal in to the design by  replacing the mesquite branch with the outreaching hand and the "O" with a coal.
This was my favorite design out of the sketches I had done I felt like it really spoke more to the Texas town of Seguin that my client requested on the design. When getting the public opinion on these 3 different directions most went with this design. I felt like it was a fun and eye catching way to give a shout out to the clients home town while being more customer friendly with an icon like a cowgirl.
For this design I went more with the clients wants of something more natural and organic. The hand is there to help show the artisanal nature of his brand I then added more organic accents with the coal and branches. This design was added to give a different direction away from the more grungy Texas oriented designs prior and invite a more fun and organic direction.
